The most interesting thing about this scene to me is that Hannibal is stripped of his perfectly groomed veneer, right down to his savage, animalistic power. We haven’t seen a lot of that at this point in the series. I always find it a shock when I rewatch it, because the contrast is so great, but I like to try and keep in mind that this is what is underneath it all. Under that surface of nicely combed hair and immaculate clothing is the possibility of unrelenting violence. Always.
